If you don’t regularly read The Joy of Tech you should! The comics aren’t always about Apple, but quite often they are. Nitrozac and Snaggy, the authors, normally post 3 comics per week, which is just enough feed my web comic addiction. Although we all love Apple, it’s not a perfect relationship and there are things Apple does that annoys us all! Todays Joy of Tech comic illustrates 10 reasons to hate Apple, most of which aren’t Apples fault.
I especially like the last point! “They started as a couple of geeks in a garage, then got rich and changed the world. Damn it, why have a garage, how come we can’t do that!!!” I can totally relate :) If only I could invent life changing devices in my garage… what a life.
Personally I hate that Apple can never seem to gain any significant market share. If only they could start putting the hurt on Microsoft. A good hefty 25% or more market share would be nice. It might be a while down the road, but it’ll happen again someday.
So, how about you? what do you hate about Apple?

or not… Apparently Steve Ballmer recently said that the Zune phone is “not a concept you’ll ever get from us”. In other words, we’ll let Apple develop the iPhone, then wait 5 years to see if it’s a hit. If it is, we’ll try to play catchup and produce an insanely crappy ‘iPhone Killer’. History does repeat itself! I can’t say that I’m all that disapointed, lol. If your curious as to what the Zune Phone will look like, I think Jean-Paul Buquet hit the nail on the head with his ‘iPhone Killer’ comic :)

Just when you thought you’d seen that last of the iProducts another one crops up. This time it’s something for your favorite K9 friend! I imagine that with the lanyard you could throw that bad boy quite a ways for one mean game of fetch. However I think that Apple might need to work on the quality of the plastic used. If the dog in that picture caused all that damage I’d hate to see what would be left after a pitbull got ahold of the iBone.

As far as the circuit board goes I haven’t figured out the use for it yet. Maybe apple has figured out a way to calm even the wildest of beasts with certain musical tracks. Of course those songs would only be available through the iTMS. One version with DRM and the other without. Or even better yet, maybe you’ll be able to control the flavor of the iBone wirelessly with your Bluetooth enabled mac or the iPhone! I’m not normally cruel to animals, but wouldn’t it be awesome to change the flavor of the iBone from Beggin’ to dirty socks mid chew? I think that Apples got a real winner here, lol!
Don’t worry, no iPod Shuffles were harmed in the making of this photograph… oh, uhhh, ok, maybe just one :)

It won’t be long before soldiers will be outfitted with iPod laden body armor.
That was my prediction on April 5th when I saw the image of an iPod shot by an AK-47 round in Iraq. Well, its been a little over a week… those defense contractors must have been working round the clock!
Thats quite the stylish helmet they’ve crafted. It reminds me of the Predator a bit. I keep thinking that I’m going to see ol’ Arnold come running out shouting… “Get to the choppa!”
If this body armor wasn’t inspired by the Predator, then I think that Whoopi is hiding under there somewhere.
I’d be afraid to wear that thing. Not because I’d fear for my life, but because I wouldn’t want to be mugged. I did the math… If you go by the retail prices from the Apple store there is $28,690 worth of iPods ready for destruction on the front side alone! This is of course assuming that we wouldn’t outfit our police/soldiers with anything but the best video iPods. I suppose if the government wanted to save a few dimes they could go with the 30gb version, but since when have they wanted to save tax dollars? :)

It won’t be long before soldiers will be outfitted with iPod laden body armor. Without his trusty iPod this soldier would have taken an AK-47 bullet in the chest. It’ll only be a matter of a few days now before we see fund raisers to send life saving iPods over to Iraq.
It all makes sense now… That U2 iPod was a bulls eye!
This wasn’t the first time an Apple product saved someones life. Check out this MacBook Pro that got shot during a mugging in Brazil
Thanks to Scott over at BabyGotMac.com for finding the pic. If only all the other soldiers in Iraq could be as lucky as this guy.

You know that feeling when your day just isn’t going right? There’s that gut wrenching moment when your beloved Gadget takes its last volt. Just because you might enjoy sky diving or swimming, it doesn’t mean your Mac does! Over the last few days I rustled up 10 of the worst Mac accident pictures that I could find. I ran across dropped, burnt, drowned and even one purposely crushed Mac.
Take a look at what happens when good Macs behave badly!
