Do you ever think about how great the Mac community is? Not only are people willing to lend a hand when a fellow user is in need, but most everyone is a big fan of Apple. A fan in the most extreme sense. I’ve already written about Mac users who have gotten Apple tattoos. This time around I’ve dug up some amazing unofficial iPhone advertisements created by Apple fans. If you run across or have bookmarked any others I’d love to add them!
This is one of my favorites of the bunch. The logo and tagline in the upper right portion of the ad is simple, sort of reminiscent of Apple themselves. To me, the high contrast iPhone image atop the gray scale background represents how the iPhone will reinvent the cell phone. A progression of technology. I’m not sure what to make of the image displayed on the iPhone’s Multi-Touch screen, I would have liked to see the clown fish background on the phone instead, but maybe there is a significance of the image used that I’m unaware of. The MacDailyNews webmaster clued me in on the significance of the image on the iPhones display. “The reason they didn’t use the clown fish is because the whole ad concept is that with iPhone you enter a new world. The ad is about the contrast of a current rainy, run-down city and the gleaming city of the future.” (Source)
Recreated in the silhouette style used by Apple on most of their iPod/iTunes commercials this ad’s quotes Steve Jobs’s announcement of the iPhone. “Its an iPod, A Phone, an Internet Communicator!” I especially love the character in this image. It’s almost as if he’s hunched over like zombie marching to the tune of the latest track on his iPhone. My only gripe about this ad is that there is a type-o… or did Steve Jobs say ‘a’ instead of ‘an’ in the keynote? I don’t remember. (Source)
Created in the typical Apple black and white this ad makes me want to by an iPhone the or than any of the other ads. I think that part of the reason for that is because of the word ‘Revolution’ in large font at the top of the ad. It makes me want to be part of it, part of history in the making. Viva la Revolucion! Although there seems to be a lot going on in this ad its incredibly simple. This is the only ad I found that used the mirroring effect that Apple uses on some of the images on their website. It almost seems as if an Apple artist could have produced this image. (Source)
I posted this image a while back, but figured I should repost it in the roundup. I’ve been told that creating images with numbers is a common project at art school so I imagine thats where this image originated. It’s really neat how much detail you can actually get using this technique. By looking at the thumbnail you can’t even tell its all numbers. This image appealed to me because its a different play on the iTunes/iPod silhouette ads. Stylish, simple, and interesting. (Source)
Here’s my least favorite of the bunch, yet it intrigues me the most. There is entirely to much going on and its distracting. But it ends up working as a positive in this case because it keeps me looking at the image. All the parts and pieces mean something, from dimensions to features. Each time I look at the image I find something new. (Source)
This image is definitely unique. It doesn’t use any of the styles, fonts, or techniques that Apple normally uses or the other ads for that matter. It sort of reminds me of an energy drink ad with that in your face attitude. The text to the right takes away from the image in my opinion. If you cover that part of the image with your hand the ad is much more focused. Beyond that, I really love the artists use of color. The white and orange on black stands out well and the fading splatter effect looks pretty sweet. (Source)
If you’ve made it this far I commend you! I tried to include the best of the images I found and provide a unique range of styles. If you have anything to ad to what I’ve already written feel free to comment :) Links to more ads would be welcome as well.
