iTunes Album ArtEver since I started using iTunes I’ve become an album art freak! I never really cared much about it when all my mp3’s were unorganized and had messed up tags. But now, I take pride in my music collection and love seeing the album art. Did you know that you can display your coveted album art in your Dock? I didn’t till tonight when I ran across a neat iTunes plugin called DockArt.

Don’t be fooled by the horrible site design on the DockArt website. The plugin is pretty awesome and requires at most 15 seconds of installation time.

DockArt is a one trick horse. It allows you to change the default iTunes icon in the dock to the album art of the currently playing track. Each time a new song begins to play the iTunes icon is changed again. When iTunes isn’t running, is paused or a track doesn’t have have album art then the default iTunes icon is displayed. Used in conjunction with You Control: Tunes I rarely have to look at the iTunes interface.

DockArt runs seamlessly and adds a unique flare to your dock. If you’re looking one up the local Mac geek who seems to have/know everything then you need to install DockArt :) Oh, did I mention that DockArt is free?
