Well today is the 2 month birthday of Keynote2Keynote. Its been a fun ride so far and I’m looking forward to what the future holds. I started this blog a few hours after Steve Jobs’s announcement at MacWorld San Francisco 2007. I had been waiting since the beginning of December to see if an update for the MacBook Pro line or Leopard would be announced, neither of which were. So a week or so later I purchased a 2.33GHz, 120GB HDD, 2GB ram, 15″ MacBook Pro and made the ‘Switch’ to Mac.

In the past 2 months I’ve learned a lot about OS X and my MBP. I thought there would be some kind of learning curve for OS X. But, I found that in the matter of a few hours I was comfortable with the system. Within a few days I felt like I had been using a Mac my whole life. OS X is simple enough to learn quickly yet powerful enough accomplish any task. I’m really glad I made the decision to make the ‘Switch’.

As far as the site goes things have changed quite a bit in the past 2 months. Here’s a short history of Keynote2Keynote.

  • Jan. 9: I began Keynote2Keynote on a free blog at WordPress.com.
  • Jan. 10: Switched from WordPress to Blogger. For a newbie blogger WordPress seemed to complex and Blogger allowed me to easily make posts.
  • Feb. 13: I started looking back into WordPress. This time I skipped the free hosing that WordPress.com provides and checked out AwardSpace.com a free web host. Hosting your own WordPress blog gives you more freedom than the free WordPress hosting.
  • Feb. 20: I provided a preview of the new Kenote2Keynote site to the readers of this blog.
  • Feb. 24: I moved the blog content from my Blogger blog to the new WordPress blog hosted on DreamHost. My url changed from keynote2keynote.blogspot.com to www.keynote2keynote.com. This was one of the most important days thus far for the blog.

Since Feb 24th the site has been running strong and has seen some good growth. On Febuary 28th Keynote2Keynote reached its highest amount of traffic, 540 page views and 280 unique visits. And of course I have my IP number filtered out of the results so they aren’t skewed by my own surfing :)

Feb 28th Traffic

Aside from page views and visits I’m even more happy to see my RSS feed subscriptions has grown. On March 5th the Keynote2Keynote had 41 subscribers. This is my favorite stat. It shows that people have enjoyed my writing enough that they would like to read it on a regular basis. This means a lot to me.

Feed Stats

Anyways, I’ll wrap this up. But before I do I’d like to thanks YOU, the readers of Keynote2Keynote. Without your interest I wouldn’t find the time each day to learn more about my Mac. I hope that I’ve been able to pass some knowledge on to you and you’ll do the same in return. If there is one thing that I really enjoy about using a Mac its the community. Everyone is friendly and truly willing to help you with any problem big or small. I realize that you only have so much time to spend reading stuff on the internet everyday and I’m glad that you choose to spend it with me here on Keynote2Keynote.

As always, if there is anything you like, dislike or would like to see changed, let me know and I’ll see what I can do about it.

    Thanks for the compliments :)

Since I started Keynote2Keynote I’ve done a bunch of reading about successful blogging. The most important tip that I read was to write quality content on a predictable consistent basis. Content is King. If the readers get used to 1 a day posts then thats what they expect. Don’t disappoint or they’ll likely go elsewhere. So I try to live by that and its working fairly well for me so far :)

LOL, no worries Jeff, take your time and enjoy it :)

I’ve still enjoying some nice growth on the site. RSS Subscribers are slowly increasing and I’m getting more and more hits coming through from Google which is awesome!
