The service is supposed to launch today, Feb 22nd. But, their blog says that they are ironing out some kinks.

Here is there pricing plan.

$69 a year for unlimited storage.

Or you can try the service for 1 month for $1 and get unlimited storage. But, after that one month if you want to continue using BandWagon then you have to pay $99 a year. I guess the different prices are to reward those that just jump right in and get the 1 year from the begining.

I have a free 1 years worth of service from them. So when I get around to trying it out I'll write about my experiences.

An interesting thing happened to them. WAY more people signed up and uploaded music to their servers that they ever thought would. Not only did a ton of people use their service, but the users had way more music than they ever anticipated. So they revamped their product. Here's an email I got from the Co-Founder/CEO explaining the situation.

Hello all,

A bunch of important updates so I'll dive right in....

1) All paid customers will be getting refunds within the next 24
hours. If you don't get one, email me.

2) After feedback and conversations with bloggers, customers and Mac
aficionados, Bandwagon will re-launch as a "do-it-yourself" online
iTunes backup sync application service where you provide your own
storage cloud! Syncing support will cover 2 Macs.

Initial storage cloud support will be Amazon S3. Available on April
2007 with intro prices starting at $1/month.

We apologize in advance that this revised Bandwagon service won't
appeal to everyone but the market has spoken. The "unlimited"
version is currently not economically feasible. We hope to re-launch
some version of it in the future.

Special pre-launch pricing:

3) We have released v1.09 of the current application. Please update
Bandwagon and continue testing. If you choose not to test, please
uninstall Bandwagon. v1.09 will be the last update (exception if
major bugs crop up) and Bandwagon's S3 account will be inaccessible
by March 15, 2007 so please uninstall BW by then.

Make sure you restore any missing items before this date. We hope
you continue to test until the Bandwagon DIY application service is
released. Note: the DIY code base is similar (to current app) so
continued testing helps us.

Whether you choose to test or not, you will receive a free one-year
account for the DIY app service. If you are not interested, email me.

4) We will let you know when Bandwagon DIY beta is ready for
testing. You will need to have an Amazon S3 account. If you don't
have one and have purchased from Amazon before, sign up here:

http://aws.amazon.com/s3

5) There have been complaints about Google Groups so we are moving to
a more "traditional" discussion forum. Please re-register and
continue to provide bugs and feedback.

6) Bloggers wanted for beta testing. They will get a free six-month
account so please pass to your fellow Mac-toting bloggers.

Details here:

testing/

That's all for now and thank you to the blogosphere for understanding
our initial mistakes.

Over and out,
Terence Pua
Co-founder & CEO
