Today I joined all the Apple forums that I’ve been secretly surfing. I was able to get a lot of really good information that helped me make my decision to switch to Apple from these communities. So here’s my shout out to them!
MacNN
AppleInsider
MacRumors
MacWorld
Mac-Forums.com
I’ll try to remain active on each of these communities. Hopefully I’ll be able to help as many people as have helped me on these forums. Thanks again for the support guys!
Are there any communities comprised mostly of Apple ’switchers’?
Edit: The people over at MacNN pointed me to TUAW. It seems to be a nice Apple blog. I also stumbled across The Apple Blog and Cult of Mac

I don’t know of any, but I’d be thrilled to experiment with one on SwitchBlog.com
…And link to any existing communities.
It seems like switching involves joining the greater Mac community which is full of great people who are happy to help. Perhaps a community dedicated to switchers would provide a centralized location to ask questions and have them answered.
As described in the post I joined some of the biggest mac communities that I found. However, I don’t know if these communities get tired of the typical OS X newbie questions or not. A switcher community would be nice since everyone could learn together. And since everyone would be in the same situation they would all likely have the same questions.
dude, you have so made the right choice.
i am not sure if there is a site for “switchers,” but i recently joined my local Mac Users Group though i switched roughly 2 years ago.
that being said the user group is full of great people and great resources.
people are very nice and very helpful.
please let me know if there is anything that i can do to help.
i had to go through this littany of programs before i found a nice mix of things that i like, and also before i would fork over my hard earned money to pay for anything.
oh, and you can email me at: jeffdvance@gmail.com
I was in the Lunix Users Group at my college, although I was a pretty inactive member. I’ll looked at to see if there was a MUG (Mac Users Group) in my area and there wasn’t :(
If anyone else wants to check if there is one near them go to http://www.apple.com/usergroups/find/ and you can search by state or zipcode!
I ran across the I/O MUG (Internet Only). It seems like a good alternative to for those who can’t join a local MUG.
there may be a local MUG if you look for a large city near you and search for Mac User Group..
that is how i found mine.
googled and got it through another site…
I did a search by state and saw some in my area, but not really close enough to justify driving there. Maybe I’ll join anyways so I can join their forums, receive their newsletter and subscribe to their email list.
Oh, and the URL for the I/O (internet only) MUG is http://www.iomug.org.
hello again. it is Solo.
thanks for the recognition.
remember Mac people are always here to help.
we are a small community, but growing fast.
if there is anything that i can do please let me know.
